The Golden Lion, Brixham

Located on the New Road in Brixham, (the self-proclaimed “first and last pub in Brixham”), the Golden Lion is a traditional family-run pub.

Deceivably large on the inside, with 2 bars, a restaurant, a large courtyard and an extensive beer garden, the Golden Lion has plenty to offer.

What we like about it: You’ll always be sure of a warm welcome from Geoff and Lynn and their team. The restaurant offers generously-portioned home cooked meals at great value prices and is open for evening meals from Thursday to Saturday and for Sunday lunch.

On Saturday nights they have live music, (and occasionally Karaoke), while on Sunday evenings you’ll find a mixture of locals and visitors competing for the first place in the fun quiz night. (You’ll often find Stephen taking part in the quiz – usually competing, but sometimes as guest quizmaster.)

How to find it: The Golden Lion is on New Road, the main road into Brixham (post code TQ5 8NL). The pub is a ten minute walk from the harbour.

Bear in mind: As is common with many Brixham pubs, there’s no parking – so leave your car at the guest house and walk down there, (we’re a ten minute walk away). If you’re eating at the pub it’s a good idea to book as it often gets busy.

And another thing: The Golden Lion is dog friendly.
